Two questions I’m frequently asked are, “Are there any good churches left out there?” and “How do I find a good church?”
In this video I share my answer and offer some tips (via an easy analogy involving a cruise ship) on how to decide if a church is safe. Of course, there are many factors involved in choosing a church, and I don’t profess to offer all the answers for every situation, but I hope this might help give some wisdom in the search.
Over the past few years, I've heard so many stories of spiritual abuse--most from people sitting across from me. While spiritual abuse has been a reality since biblical times, each new story breaks my heart more deeply--every single person has experienced deep loss. Some say they will never attend church again. Others have walked away from Jesus.
It is with those faces and hearts heavy on my heart that I share a bit of the spiritual abuse of power I've walked through in order to give a small voice to the broken and prayerfully bring some encouragement, clarity, and hope. We have a good, good Shepherd!
